Sparkle, diamond. SPARKLE!

Take a deep breath. Quiet all the noise. Turn of all external notifications – cell phone, email, social media, etc. Now, turn off the internal noises. The noise that is in your head – your mind. The noise that is shaking your heart. The noise that is attacking your ability to understand, reason or accept this current season of your life. Turn off the nagging of the failed attempts and questions for the unexpected and mind-blowing challenges. Turn it all off.

Ok. Now. Get comfortable in your seat and take one last deep breath. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Ok say this:

I am worthy.

I am loved.

I am beautiful.

I am unique.

I am strong.

I am capable.

I am valuable.

I am enough.

These positive affirmations are just a few of many that represent who you are and what you were created to be and do. I challenge you to commit them to memory and repeat to yourself often.

Song of Songs 4:7 states, “You are altogether beautiful my darling, there is no flaw in you.” (NIV)

Isn’t it amazing that we can see the beauty in everything and everyone around us but sometimes we struggle with seeing the beauty within ourselves.

According to Merriam Webster, self-worth is defined as – a sense of one’s own value as a human being.

It’s not anyone else’s responsibility to see within us that in which we do not see in ourselves.

Our role is to reflect our worth. We should settle this in our heart so deeply that others see it in us as a diamond reflects light.

Have you ever gone inside a jewelry store to look at diamonds? Did you notice that some diamonds were a little more “sparkly” than others? A diamond’s sparkle depends on its ability to take in light, then reflect that light back outwards. The more light the diamond reflects, the more “sparkly” it will look. Self-worth is just that. Your sparkle! YOU are the sparkle in your own eyes. Self-worth, is loving your sparkle. It’s accepting your strengths and your challenges. It’s honoring and embracing who you are - and not shrinking away in order to “fit in.” You were not created to “fit in.” You were created to be unique, LIKE A DIAMOND!

Diamonds are beautiful, colorful, versatile and come in many shapes and sizes. They are free to shine their light so we all can see and experience. Diamonds don’t try to outshine or conform, they are comfortable in their own “sparkle” and shine in their own beauty.

Psalm 139:14 declares, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (NIV) God does not make mistakes. He creates marvelous masterpieces – diamonds. Forgive yourself! Your self-worth is not defined by your mistakes. Your mistakes were lessons of wisdom and strength. Now that you know better, you’ll do better.

The only one who gets to decide your worth is YOU. Only YOU can be the best YOU! So, let’s pick ourselves up, shake off the past, dust off the hurt and SPARKLE!

When you honor who you are, others will act accordingly. And if they don’t, let them honor your memory. YOU ARE ENOUGH!

Until we blog again,
